This is kinda a thread to inform everyone about my OC's. Any OC creators are free to post their OC bios on this thread. Special thanks to shadowsamurai for the idea & do check out his site.
Name: Katsura Umeko
Family Name: Katsura
Other names: Umeko-dono, Umeko-san
Age: 40
Gender: Female
Affilation: Choushu Ishin (sorta)
Fighting Skills: Trained in the use of the naginata (I know in feudal Japan, women do not go on the battlefield. However, samurai women are often trained in use of a naginata/ halberd. An exception was made in the Aizu Women¡¦s Brigade)
Physical Appearance:
Relatively short & small built. Black hair & eyes. She can pass for anyone¡¦s kindly aunt at a glance. She wears a pink plum(ume) blossom design kimono with an apron.
Personality:
Warm, kind, with a feisty temper if provoked. She has very strong motherly instincts & is protective of those in her care. She is friendly & often chats up her customers & others in the market place, sometimes for information.
Background:
Katsura Kogoro's elder sister. Widowed by an unfortunate incident involving a blowfish, she now runs her own family restaurant, Umeya, in Kyoto. Her brother¡¦s redhead page often drops in. Being childless, she has a natural mothering instinct for her charges, especially if they¡¦re under-aged hitokiris. She enjoys trying to match make her older charges like Nami. Umeya is known for their specialty desserts and sweets. She is very professional in running her restaurant and treats all her guests equally well most of the time. However, if anyone seems to be scouting for info on her brother¡K
She NEVER approved of Kogoro¡¦s decision to use a child as a hitokiri. This results in a fair bit of tension between them. Umeya also doubles as a hideout for Choushu elements. She helps her brother by sheltering his men & acting as their medic if needed etc. Her restaurant is staffed by several kunoichis. As to her relationship with the other members of the Ishin leadership, she has a strong dislike for Yoshida. She has a deep friendship with Sakamoto. She is on good terms with Takasugi, often asking him about his *cough*. She trained with the naginata under his tutelage in addition to the shamisen.
She has the WORST direction sense ever in the whole of Kyoto. She is often accompanied by her personal assistant, Nami.
