I'm not very familiar with Veterans Day.
Maybe in my nation, they have it under another guise. Annually on certain days, we see community leaders holding memorial services at certain places, like the war memorials, military cemeteries etc. Mostly from WWII.
I believe I would honour the nameless hundreds who fought in the resistance behind enemy lines, risking toture & death. Those dead whose remains are never recovered. Those whose names will be never grace the pages of a history book.
The members of the Chinese Volunteer Dalforce, who were issued outdated rifles, hardly any bullets and a parang (a hatchet) for the battle field. The members of Force 136 whose mission was destined for failure due to miscommunication and misplanning. And the thousands of civilians (men, women & children all over China, Southeast Asia etc) who did their duty to their fellow men in the face of grave danger by extending assistance to the resistance.

nice, honoring, umeko, it im not familiar with this but i shall honor them aswell due to the information youve given ^_^, for my self id like to honor all the people who fought valiantly in america's wars, i would also like to give honor to those of other nations and countries, for instance Aizu, shinsengumi, and mimiwarigumi members as well as those who died in the bombing of hiroshima and nagasaki, and many others.
