Sure, it's in the PMK anime.
The Shinsengumi's enemy, NOT the Choushu, but this wierd guy who's a sorcerer or something, hires this assasin who happens to look a good deal like Okita. ;D
Okita's lookalike attacks a patrol of the Mimawarigumi, claiming to be Okita. Of course, a complaint got lodged with Chief Kondo.
Later, the assasin, posing as Okita, tries to kill Hijikata...
With Saitou's help, Okita & Hijikata set off to confront that sorcerer & get trapped in a black magic spell... A totally unexpected person shows up to rescue the guys. ;D

Yes that sorcer in the anime did seem out of place.

The Itou Incident is real, right? Saitou & Heisuke defecting... Saitou actually spying on Itou & Co.

The Itou insident is as real as the ground under you! Todo was murdered by the Shinsengumi and eventhough Saito was only spying on Itou he had to Change his name to Yamaguchi Jiro.

I thought Yamaguchi was his real name before he killed someone & joined the Shinsengumi.

Actually his name was Yamaguchi when he was reacepted into the Shinsengumi. Those rules were so strict that eventhough Hijikata and Kondo commisioned Saito to spy he needed to be reentered as practically a new person.

Oh man, in the PMK manga, they have Saitou evasdropping openly on Itou & co in his 'part o' the background way', then he steps out & tells them he's on their side. No aliases, no cover, nothing!  Then again, PMK Saitou is bit, well... ^_^;; |

I think it is so cool how Kurono-sama makes Saito spiritually enlightened in PMK. That makes him even more of a hero to me! ;D

Yeah, he is real enlightened.
In the manga, he says a lot of very deep words. Like "change is always happening like the water in the river is not the same water it was yesterday & it will not the same water tomorrow..." or something like that.
The Kichisaburo incident & that sorcerer are chances for Saitou to show his cool psychic abilities & save his pals. ;D ;D ;D
